Scientology: Religion or Cult?

"You don’t get rich writing science fiction. If you want to get rich, you start a religion.” – L. Ron Hubbard This quote simply and efficiently sums up exactly what the Church of Scientology is: a cult. Created by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, the Church of American Science and Church of Spiritual Engineering incorporated was established in Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1953. No stranger to controversy, various Scientology offices have been raided by the FDA and FBI. They have been protested and banned in Germany, but they remain due to their employment of scare tactics and an aggressive legal team. As a cult, Scientology costs money to join, tears apart families and has been linked to many crimes ranging from theft to death in order to continue to aggressively spread its message.
